I don't understand the hype over Palin's looks, and I missed the RNC, but I haven't heard her say anything particularly wrong or stupid yet. Is she Hillary? Not by a damn sight. But she wasn't running for Pres. She got plucked up. I imagine she was as surprised as anyone when McCain asked her.

Sure, McCain picked her because Obama screwed up big time and didn't pick Hillary. Not in a million years could I figure that one out. And Hillary would have swept McCain, I have no doubt. But McCain isn't swooping up Hillary supporters. McCain is picking up all those people who were undecided and who saw that if Obama could show such tremendous lack of judgement in picking Biden over Clinton, their choice suddenly became very clear (to them).

If Obama loses, he will have beaten himself.

Yeah, Brian, we Schipulites certainly know how to stir up trouble, don't we?

Paul, it was a tough blow - as you noted - when Hillary conceded to Barack. I wanted her to be President, plain and simple. Not because she was a woman, but because I felt she was the best candidate for the job. Not that I didn't think he was qualified, but I just wasn't sure what he was capable of. I guess the best way to find out is to let him try, isn't it?

I figure, there are only a few things to be sure of in this election. Perhaps we don't KNOW that Barack can do it. Perhaps we have nothing concrete to show that he can. But there is one thing to be sure of: I'm absolutely positive of the fact that McCain is NOT the right man for the job. He has proven time and time again that he is not ready to lead this country and will never be ready to lead this country. And his aesthetically pleasing cohort from Alaska, while riling the GOP and teenage boys alike, only makes McCain's candidacy and possible presidency even more scary, in my book.

While I don't understand the general angst that some have concerning Hillary's defeat to Obama, which I mention because I sensed it coming from you in some of your tweets, I will never understand why anyone would at one time have been a supporter of Hillary for President and now switched allegiance to McCain/Palin.

I have up to this point tried to ignore all of the hype and hysteria that has been generated, including ignoring the entire RNC ( admittedly, I ignored the DNC as well ). That said; the little that I have seen and heard leaves me with little to be desired in Palin, regardless of her positions.

It's obvious she has tenacity, great, but it's equally obvious she is not intellectually up to the task ( at least in my opinion ). I also don't understand why everyone thinks that she "speaks so well" ( wink wink ) when every speech or snippet I have heard from her equates to a point/counter point discussion down a list of issues/non-issues.

If I had to hazard a guess, I would say this all blows over by October and we see there isn't really much there.

I have actually been to Wausilla, AK and it is a great place. People in Alaska live in an entirely different reality than we do, so in some areas I cut slack where I might not if the individual were from Los Angeles. Things like furs, guns, etc... really boil people that have no idea what it is like to live outside of their contrived safety bubble that society has created for them, so in that respect some of Palin's mannerisms do not bother me.

On another note altogether ( Obama ), I just don't understand why everyone isn't more excited about him. He is such a uniquely talented and intellectual individual the likes of which we probably haven't seen in this nation's politics for fifty or more years.

He is Al Gore with charisma, that's a great combination IMO.
